Lizzi already posted a picture of Owl's Soda Fountain last week, but I couldn't resist using a close up of the stools for weekend reflections.

Best in Town
Boomer's Drive In offers some of the yummiest burger choices in town. My favorite happens to be their mushroom burger. The drive up service is always busy and their walk in restaurant is always crowded, but worth the wait.

Whatcom Hills
As spring weather is finally upon us, the lake looks more inviting. But beware, there is still snow up in the hills and as it melts I'm sure its keeping the lake icy cold for a few months to come.

Open, Open, Open
This last weekend was fantastic. We had sunny skies and temperatures in the upper 50's. Yay, spring has sprung. Now bring on all the flowers!

Rolling Hill
It's amazing how sometimes you don't notice certain details until you see it through your camera. Case in point here, I always saw this hill as a straight climb. But this picture has shown me the rolling effect of the street I live on.

Waiting for Spring
Blue sky can be seen through the branches of a tree waiting for spring. Today might be the first official day of spring, but this tree sure doesn't realize it yet.

Purple and Green
Another one from the achieves, artichoke flowers look oddly beautiful at this last fall's Bellingham Farmers Market. I'm very excited for the Market's spring start next month.

Breaker
All sorts of fishing boats park themselves on the protected side of the wave breaker until its time for their next trip.

November Sunrise
With two little ones and our absolutely rotten weather lately, I have not made it out to take many pictures. So today I will share a pretty sunrise I captured back in the fall from my back deck. I actually like the power pole, I think it makes an interesting silhouette against the brightening sky.

Wisk Art
Avenue Bread is a fantastic way to spend an afternoon on a rainy Bellingham day. Fantastic sandwiches, rich coffee and people watching out their giant window facing Railroad Ave. I also love their chalkboard art.

Skagit Classic
In the 1950's a line of fiberglass boats was manufactured in La Conner, Washington by the Skagit Plastics company. I hadn't heard of them before Lizzi took this picture, but I'll sure keep my eye open for them now! The Skagit Boat club website can be found HERE.

Memory Walk
Each year since 1912, the graduating class at Western Washington University places a stone bearing the class year in "Memory Walk" with a time capsule buried below the stone. Last month, the first capsule from 1912 was to be dug up and opened, but nothing could be found below the stone. Several days later someone noticed the marker stone was lighter that it should be and found a tin box built into the stone marker. See the story in the Bellingham Herald HERE.

Branded
A stack of pallets sits outside of Gensco's warehouse. There is no mistaking the owner as their name has been branded into the side.

Color!
This time of year there isn't a lot of bright colors out and about. No flowers yet and still many gray days. But northwest moss is bright and lovely in this glorious shade of green. I also love the texture. It's beautiful on this shaded rock on our walk of Whatcom Falls Park, not so pretty in my lawn though.

We Struck Gold, Yukon Gold
Last weekend we found the last of our carrot crop, this weekend we dug up the last of the potatoes. There was more then I was expecting and we feasted on a big bowl of mashed potatoes with our dinner. The garden is ready for spring to come and plant some more.

It's a Girl
I happily co-hosted a baby shower for my younger sister this weekend. She is expecting a little girl in April and my entire my family can't wait to meet her. This beautiful lemon flavored baby shower cake was crafted by lizziviggi's sister. Isn't she talented?

I Spoke Too Soon...
...two weeks ago when I posted that spring seemed to be on the way. Winter couldn't leave without one final dusting of snow last weekend. And another yesterday. And perhaps one today.
