This wooden screen in the window of a house in the Columbia neighborhood caught my eye.  What a wonderful way to still achieve some privacy, but allow the light in.

but it only takes a moment to step out into the light.

A Solid Foundation...

...and a crumbling facade house one my favorite book stores in town. The girls wanted to ride the bus yesterday so we bundled up, walked to the nearest bus stop and made our way to Fairhaven for lunch.

She Gazes Out the Window

at the statue of Dirty Dan Harris, founder of Fairhaven. He looks lonely... and a little hungry. Maybe he'd like some of her grilled cheese sandwich.

This was taken inside the Colophon Cafe, a cozy little restaurant inside Village Books. I can never resist their Mexican corn-and-bean soup... or their peanut-butter pie! Yum.
