Retired

We saw this sitting in a field on the way to Cloud Mountain Farm.  I didn't get close enough to tell for sure but it looks it might have been an old hay bailer.

Skywatch Friday: Fall! Ooooh! The Rainbow!

Every year, a group of our friends and their kids gather at Back Lane Gardens to carve our Halloween pumpkins.  After an evening shower chased us into the greenhouse, we were rewarded with this stunning rainbow.

Homestead

Down the road from my childhood home, this house has been abandoned for decades. I don't remember anybody mentioning who lived in it so I suspect it was abandoned long before we moved into the area in the 70's . As kids we would sneak in and explore the old place until we got spooked.

Theme Day: 2010 Photo of the Year

"The Deer's Ears"

After several hours of reviewing, discussing, and haggling we settled on this shot for Bellingham Daily Photo's photo of the year. This guy was resting in a field outside Everson (my hometown) when we happened to drive by. We must not have looked too threatening so he hung around to let us snap a couple of pictures.

And the runner-up:
We know it's cheating a little to post two, but we loved them both!

Happy New Year to all of our CDP friends!

The Barn

In younger years she was the heart of the farm,
the keeper of cows, hay and tools.
Now she slowly returns to the soil she helped work.
