Recently, my family visited the small town of Prineville on the east side of Oregon. Prineville's claim to fame is being the home of Les Schwab, the tire company. Our fun activities included a trip to a pumpkin patch with a big hay bale maze. Most of the kids seemed to enjoyed running on top of the hay rather then exploring the inside of the maze.

Labyrinth
To celebrate the Winter Solstice this year, my family and lizziviggi's walked the labyrinth at Fairhaven Park in the dark with flashlights and hot chocolate. This wonderful design was our reward at the center.

Minihenge
I don't know if there's any spiritual significance with this stone maze or if it's "just" art, but either way it's quite striking. You can find it by following the railroad tracks south of Marine Park until you get to a little clearing. It's hard to tell the scale from the picture, but there's enough room to walk the maze if you put one foot carefully in front of the other.
