He's High

It's up in the air...
he needs to get his head out of the clouds...

My five-year-old daughter is obsessed with figures of speech, and it seems they're all I can think about now. She has trouble sleeping, so I check on her every ten minutes and she asks for another figure of speech. Got any good ones? I'm running out!

  1. We all use so many figures of speech or cliches. they are always 'at the ready'.

    I'm leaving on a high now :-)

Test your girl's IQ, it is bound to be high. Language is the most important indicator.

  5. maybe you can find one or two you haven't used in this batch: count your chickens before they hatch. cross that bridge when we come to it. ducks in a row. Stick your neck out. haul over the coals. Cart before the horse. Closing the barn door after the cow got out. Play close to the vest, play ball, play fast and loose, play hardball, play possum, (I'm cheating on these 'play' figures of speech...I pulled out my 'Encyclopedia of word and Phrase Origins' by Robert Hendrickson.
It's a bit hefty for a five year old, but might make a present you could read to her/him.
The QPB edition is only like $14 on amazon.
