Although the light is now automated (less romantic than the image of a grizzled, lonely lighthouse keeper struggling to light a match in a storm, but undoubtedly much more convenient) it still shines every night from the lighthouse at Point Wilson, where the Strait of Juan de Fuca turns into Admiralty Inlet.

Skywatch Friday: Point Wilson Lighthouse
Although the light is now automated (less romantic than the image of a grizzled, lonely lighthouse keeper struggling to light a match in a storm, but undoubtedly much more convenient) it still shines every night from the lighthouse at Point Wilson, where the Strait of Juan de Fuca turns into Admiralty Inlet.

What a fine photo!
ReplyDeleteI love lighthouses. It must have been a lonely existence, but for those who love solitude a great job. I remember reading about a family that lived on an island to man the lighthouse and the kids had to row to school. Sounds romantic until you think about the rough winter seas. - Margy
ReplyDeleteThe light still shines! And good that it does, keeping vessels away from all those stones!

Planets hurtling through the sky,
Can you tell me one thing: Why
Are you intent on fleeing
Far from human sight and seeing?
