Thanks for the answer Eli. Silage corn is probably what we used to call field corn. I remember a neighbour that was really hard up for money and would go pick the tiny ears to augment their diet. The corn plot owner probably didn't like losing their crop, but a few ears in a large field didn't make much of a dent. - Margy
