Thank a Veteran Today
Harvey Gooding, my wife's grand dad, served in Europe during WWII. He stands front and center here with his communications platoon in England. The photo is dated October, 1944.
A wonderful look back. While the war was not over in Europe in Oct. 1944, and although many brutal battles were yet to be fought, it would be over in six more months!
I served but it is not something I make a thing of, I do not wear my beret or badges or own a sweatshirt. I think many here in the UK have forgotten how many young GI's left their families, came to England and fought for our freedom. Nice photo, must have been chow time
Absolutely.
