June 1st marked the 70th anniversary of Bellingham International Airport. In celebration, the Heritage Flight Museum had a "Warbird Weekend." Aviators came from all over, bringing their vintage aircraft with them. I wish I had gotten some information on these planes, but all I know about them is they were really fun to watch!

Skywatch Friday: Warbird Weekend

I imagine that flying in such tight formation is rather difficult to do!
ReplyDeleteRED SKY IN MORNING
Red sky in morning,
Sailors take warning!
Who knows what might happen out on the sea?
Waves riding high,
Waves to the sky,
Waves crashing and dashing all over me!
Red sky at night,
Sailors delight!
Leeward or windward we sail with no fear;
Water is calm,
Healing like balm—
Ahoy, fellow sailors, landfall is near!

they look like toys, suspended from wire. i bet it was fun.
ReplyDeleteI am surprised that they can fly in a tight formation if they don't practice together a lot.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great skywatch photo. It's like seeing Snoopy and the Red Baron!
ReplyDeleteThis would be very cool to see indeed!
ReplyDeleteMy husband tells me these are T-6 Texans. He's a BIG war bird fan. Great shot!
ReplyDeleteT-6 or SNJ's...great birds. Go to Oshkosh for some great formation flying..those guys are playing "Follow the leader"...not that close together.
