Heading Home

The girls have been anxious to see my stunt kite fly so we went to Zuanich Point Park to try to catch a little breeze off the bay. We got just enough breeze to get aloft for a few minutes and satisfy the girls' curiosity. With the winds down as well as the kites, this kayaker took the opportunity to sneak across the field.

Skywatch Friday: Whoo Wants to Fly a Kite?

I dug this one out of the archives from last year, but just as I was getting ready to post I noticed there was already a Bellingham Daily Photo watermark on the photo, and after a little digging found Lizzi already posted this picture last year. However, I need to leave for work in about five minutes so its going up anyway!

Up and Away

This gentlemen gets his kite flying at Zuanich Point Park on a nice breezy afternoon.  Its the best location in town to fly a kite.

Another Perspective

When Eli posted his Skywatch Friday shot of the view of Bellingham bay shot from WWU's Viking Union, I thought I should share a shot from Zuanich Point Park on the bay looking up at WWU nestled on Sehome Hill.  The red brick buildings to the upper left are dorms and middle large building with large windows is Viking Union.

Weekend Reflections: Desire

For those with a hankering for wild Alaskan salmon, the Desire Fish Company's floating storefront at Squalicum Harbor is a local favorite.

...and join me in wishing Lizziviggi a happy birthday today!

Bellingham Daily Photo's One-Year Blogoversary!

A slightly smooshed, rather windblown, very sea-sprayed cupcake sits in front of a view of Bellingham from Zuanich Point. You can tell by the focus which subject I found most important. Mmm... cupcake. I highly recommend sea-salt sprinkled chocolate-- it was very good! Anyway, we are celebrating one whole year of Bellingham daily photo madness. The madness is on our part, not yours. What were we thinking? Taking on a daily photo project with two small children, a house we're trying to remodel ourselves, jobs, and wanting to have an actual life too? Well, we wouldn't change it for anything! This project has dragged me out of the house on many a day I would have stayed home doing something boring, like vacuuming, in order to get the next daily photo. Not to mention, I love it that I now speak regularly to friends all around the world... and if I'm lucky, maybe we'll get to meet someday.

The Lap of Luxury

The Lighthouse Suite at the Hotel Bellwether stands watch over the Bellingham Marina.

A stand alone unit, the suite has two living floors and a private observation deck on the third floor. This hotel "room" is 900 square feet - about 200 more than our first house!

Skywatch Friday: Silhouetted by the Sunset

This statue of a fisherman at Zuanich Point Park is in honor of those we've lost at sea, and a physical prayer that all others will return safely home. The softly lit islands in the background are Lummi on the left and Orcas on the right.
