"She's mine, dammit!"
One of the few places you can witness a butting joust between male bighorn sheep, outside of the mountain passes, is Northwest Trek, near Tacoma. The kids go with Dad and Grandpa about once a year, and see plenty of local wildlife; black bears, grizzly bears, moose, bison, caribou, badgers, porcupines, otters, lynxes, cougars, and many more.

Oh that's got to give them a headache! Great shot.
ReplyDeleteSunny :)
Oh, you're so lucky to be able to see all this wildlife outside of a zoo! Been to Denali once, to see the bears and the salmons, and it remains one of my best memories!
ReplyDeleteThat's an amazing sound isn't it, when they butt horns?
ReplyDeleteYes, I have heard that sound - I heard it as soon as I read Bc's comment.
ReplyDeleteWhen I embiggen, I see they are moulting. That is a natural reaction to the warming of the season, yes?
So blessed to have that array of wildlife within reach.
Pretty cool, huh! Have you been to the Yakima Canyon on the Canyon Rd. (hyway 821) It is too cool. There is a resident herd of bighorn there---elk also but the Bighorn are worth the trip. Many Recreation areas all along the Yakima River. Umtanum Rec. Area is a neat place with a suspension foot bridge over the river.---Very low ther in the summer. Trails everywhere. MB
