Trestle at Whatcom Falls Park
This is the abandoned train trestle over Whatcom Falls Creek. At first glance, you might not notice them, but there are long white pipes dangling over the creek for a stretch. I don't know what their purpose is, but my best guess is measuring water level. Any other ideas? A not very pretty art installation?

Lovely shot...I love the old bridge and the reflection in the water. But now I'm dying of curiosity...what are those pipes?
ReplyDeleteThey are Kayak gates used in the sport of kayaking
ReplyDeleteThank you, jbates! I've never seen a kayak there. Interesting.
ReplyDeleteI liked your theory about the water level. But what do I know?
ReplyDeleteJust in case there was any doubt I actually called the City of Bellingham and they are the ones that said they are kayak gates.I have seen these in other places they are for competition and I bet these are for practicing or beginners.
