Oh when the sun beats down and burns the tar up on the roof And your shoes get so hot you wish your tired feet were fire-proof Under the boardwalk, down by the sea, yeah On a blanket with my baby is where I'll be
(Under the boardwalk) out of the sun (Under the boardwalk) we'll be havin' some fun (Under the boardwalk) people walking above (Under the boardwalk) we'll be making love Under the board-walk, board-walk!
From the park you hear the happy sound of a carousel Mm-mm, you can almost taste the hot dogs and French fries they sell Under the boardwalk, down by the sea On a blanket with my baby is where I'll be

Thanks for the comments everyone. It is indeed a beautiful place.
@Margy - You can get to the boardwalk from Boulevard Park between Bellingham and Fairhaven or from the Chrysalis Inn just north of Fairhaven. If you haven't gone you should definitely make a point to visit it the next time you are in town.
Re your question about the restoration of the Point Arena lighthouse - it was restored for historical reasons. The light is still functional, but now automated. A historical preservation group maintains the grounds and the building. You can rent the lightkeepers cabins.
oooooooooh I love that photo....very nice indeed
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh!!! This is lovely...so tranquil and peaceful. You should make prints!

ReplyDeleteI like the golden glowing horizon. Great capture. Happy spring to you and your fellow Bellinghamsters (what a cute name!).
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! This is a very good picture. I love the line, the light and the colours.
ReplyDeleteA rose tipped sunset with glorious reflections and silhouettes and not a hint of those Bellinghamians in sight. What did you do with them all?
ReplyDeleteSimply stunning.
ReplyDeleteWonderful sunset shot, I love it.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a peaceful scene! I would like to know what is at the end of the boardwalk...
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful spot. Where is the boardwalk? I need to pay it a visit. - Margy
ReplyDeleteLooks like it was a really beautiful evening.
