Homestead

Down the road from my childhood home, this house has been abandoned for decades. I don't remember anybody mentioning who lived in it so I suspect it was abandoned long before we moved into the area in the 70's . As kids we would sneak in and explore the old place until we got spooked.

  1. I love poking around old homesteads and barns. We have some still hidden in the bush up in the Powell River area. We also have old logging and shake block camps to explore. I have a little "museum" of treasures I've found up at the cabin. One of my prize treasures is an old two-man saw John found for me and mounted over our front door. - Margy

  2. Poetic and not at all spooky looking with that field of dandelions and the tree all in bloom. Too bad whoever planted that tree can't be told that it is still standing guard and producing fruit after all these years.

  3. What a beautiful place to have a home! So sad it is empty.

  4. Oh I love it! I bet it would be a lot of fun to venture back in as an adult and take some photos!

  5. I always feel a little bit guilty when I realize that neglected buildings are usually more photogenic than well maintained ones. Happy Mother's Day to Lizzi. Go fix her a nice breakfast.

  6. Look at all that color and beauty! Such a lovely picture. I love exploring old homes and buildings and understand that air of mystery and eeriness that accompanies those adventures.
