On the Waterfront

The marina is one of my favorite places in Bellingham to walk around and explore with the kids, but getting down to the water is not pedestrian friendly with a stroller or bikes due to limited access roads and the train tracks. As part of the waterfront district development there will be a pedestrian overpass installed about where this picture is taken. The location of the overpass will make the walk to the marina almost a straight shot from our house.

  5. How soon will the overpass be completed? Not before summer I suppose. Marinas are always interesting places to hang out.

  6. The overpass is part of the first phase of the re-development, but the port is still in the conceptual planning phase so we won't have the overpass anytime soon. A large part of the waterfront was a Georgia-Pacific plant that is being torn down so this is a fairly long term project.
