The Gamwell House

The Gamwell House
1892

Fairhaven's South Hill was home to many of Bellingham's wealthiest citizens at the turn of the century. This victorian beauty was designed by Longstaff and Black for Roland G. Gamwell and his new bride. The Gamwell family lived in the house until 1956.

  1. What a lot of family history in one home! That's amazing to me...the Air Force brat. I love it! Hauntingly beautiful.

  2. Is it still a residence? It looks as if it should be a museum.

  3. I like this house very much. This post has just reminded me of a little enclave within Sydney, with its own suburb name, not far from me, that I need to return to to document.

  4. This was my grandfathers (Gardner Gamwell) uncle's house. My mom met Roland when she was three, but only remembers getting locked in the bathroom.
