Peace of the Sky

This playground equipment frames the beautiful late summer sky.  September has graced us with a little more summer, but you can sure feel that chill of fall in the mornings and evenings.

Kind of Blue...

...just like one of my favorite jazz albums.

This will be our only post this weekend, as we're leaving today for camping at South Whidbey State Park.
I hope everyone enjoys their weekend as much as we're going to!

Doorway to Downtown

Behind this door you'll find
wintered salty air
gulls settling in on the docks
theater-goers in hats and scarves
the sun fading at 4 o'clock
and me
going home to dinner in the crock-pot.

Window Washer-- Skywatch Friday

There's something sort of peaceful about window washers-- they're slow and steady, forced to be careful and take their time. No rushing here. Plus, he must have a great view. Mostly, though, it reminds me of this Barenaked Ladies song I've always liked, "When I Fall."

It's Skywatch Friday! Go see some skies.

Duchess in the Sky

I took this at the edge of the Van Boven Gravel Company. Our friends' land borders the quarry, and their dog Duchess apparently enjoys watching the machines below.

I had a great time camping but am so glad to be back in Bellingham!
